The council approved the first reading of the ordinance that prohibits cultivation, distribution and delivery of medical marijuana and is based on three bills – AB 266, AB 243 and SB 643 – signed by Gov. Brown, which allows California cities to completely prohibit medical marijuana activities.
Several other cities in Orange County, including Huntington Beach and Laguna Hills, have banned medical marijuana dispensaries.
