Nighttime Demolition of Slater Avenue Bridge –I-405 Freeway Closure Saturday, September 29
Crews will begin demolishing the Slater Avenue Bridge over I-405 this weekend.
Bridge spans over freeway lanes will be demolished on two Saturday nights under full freeway closures. Other demolition activities will take place on weeknights under freeway lane closures and on weekdays.
*Please be advised that this work may be loud, and dates are subject to change based on inclement weather and other operational factors.
WHERE: The Slater Avenue bridge over northbound and southbound I-405 will be demolished. The freeway will be closed in both directions between Magnolia Street and Brookhurst Street during weekend demolition.
WHEN:
Saturday, September 29: 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. Demolition of the bridge over I-405 and debris removal.
Saturday, October 6: 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. Demolition of the bridge over I-405 and debris removal.
Monday, October 15 - Friday, October 19: Additional demolition activities and debris removal, during the day and at night.
Monday, October 22 - Friday, October 22: Additional demolition activities and debris removal, during the day and at night.
WHY: The bridge is being demolished as part of the I-405 Improvement Project, which adds a general purpose lane and a tolled Express Lane facility in each direction. The project requires demolishing and replacing 18 bridges, as well as widening bridges and constructing new connectors.
