[ARCHIVED] SLATER AVENUE BRIDGE CLOSURE

405 Improvement

The bridge will be closed for approximately 12 months for reconstruction, and will not be accessible to motorists, bicyclists or pedestrians. The bridge will be fully demolished and reconstructed in one stage instead of two. Completing the bridge in one stage is expected to take approximately 12 months, rather than 18 months or more for two stages. That will allow the bridge to open to the public sooner than anticipated.

The 405 Project team is continuing to work on transportation services for those students who walk to school using the Slater Avenue bridge. They expect to have a solution in place in the coming days, however, students may need to use the pedestrian detour to get to school beginning Friday morning. The detour adds approximately one mile to your student’s walk to school; please plan accordingly for the additional travel time. Bus service may be available next week.

During demolition of the bridge spans over freeway lanes which are anticipated to take place overnight September 29-30 and October 6-7, both directions of I-405 will be closed overnight from approximately 11 p.m. to 8 a.m., between Brookhurst Street and Magnolia Street.

Please visit I-405 Improvement Project for road detours and updates. For more information, email the outreach team: 405project@octa.net.
