[ARCHIVED] 2015 Special Olympics World Games Final Leg Torch Run

On Monday July 20, 2015, at 6:40 p.m., the Fountain Valley Police Department will welcome international and US police officers as they carry the Flame of Hope through the City.The Flame of Hope will make its way through various California Cities before reaching the opening ceremony of the 2015 Special Olympic World Games on July 25.

The Torch route will start at 6:40 pm at the intersection of Brookhusrt and Edinger and make its way to the police department located at 10200 Slater Ave., where it is anticipated to arrive at approximately 7:00 pm. There will be a short welcoming ceremony with provided entertainment, which will conclude at 8:00 pm. The public is encouraged to come out and meet the runners and local special Olympic athletes.

Motorist are advised there will be temporary traffic delays southbound Brookhurst to eastbound Slater from approximately 6:30 to 7:00pm. The civic center parking lot will be closed between 5:30 and 8:00 pm. Access to the library can be accomplished via Los Alamos.
