Arbor Day Celebration – Wednesday, March 7, 2018
TreeCity USA and the City of Fountain Valley team up for Arbor Day!
On Wednesday, March 7th, the City of Fountain Valley partnered with TreeCity USA for its 4th Annual Arbor Day Celebration! This year’s Arbor Day was the biggest yet, with over 100 students joining from Courreges Elementary.
This Year’s Arbor Day was held at Courreges Park with over one hundred 3rd grade students from Courreges Elementary School. Students joined Councilman Larry Crandall and City Officials one class at a time, for the City’s official Arbor Day Proclamation and a brief presentation on Arbor Day. Students learned about proper planting techniques, the benefits of trees and how to care for trees. After the presentation, the 3rd grade students had the opportunity to get their hands dirty by helping plant trees. Students planted a total of nine trees, including bronze loquats, crape myrtles and a coast live oak in the park for the community to watch grow and enjoy for years to come!
