[ARCHIVED] Used Residential Battery Recycling Program

battery-recycle-2

Fountain Valley has a program for recycling used household batteries. Recycling old batteries keeps battery chemicals out of the landfill and allows the waste to be reprocessed for other needs. This is a free service available to all Fountain Valley residents. Batteries from businesses are not accepted.

There are three recycling stations: (1) inside the Fountain Valley Recreation Center, 16400 Brookhurst Street; (2) Senior Center at 17967 Bushard Street; and (3) City Hall located at 10200 Slater Avenue.

Acceptable battery types include all AAA, AA, C, D, button cell, 9 volt, rechargeable batteries and cell phone batteries.  Car batteries are not accepted. Please tape over 9 volt battery terminals.

Collected batteries are sent to a certified recycling plant for removal of metals and proper disposal of hazardous material.  Responsibly recycling these batteries saves natural resources and helps protect public health through reuse of reclaimed materials and by keeping heavy metals away from landfills and water supplies.

For additional information, please call the Public Works Department at (714) 593-4441. Thank you for your support!
