[ARCHIVED] Coffee with a Cop

FVPD Patch

Coffee with a Cop is a program which offers community members the opportunity to meet their police officers and discuss issues of concern. The choice of location allows for an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships, and enjoy a cup of coffee. All community members are invited to attend.
Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the Department’s work in Fountain Valley neighborhoods and business areas. Most contact with law enforcement happens during emergencies or emotionally charged situations. Those situations are not always the most effective for building relationships with the community. In addition, some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Cop breaks down those barriers and allows for a more relaxed environment to meet officers and exchange ideas.
We hope community members will feel comfortable asking questions, voicing concerns, or simply getting to know police officers. These interactions are the foundation of community partnerships. The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.
