[ARCHIVED] Press Release - Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision

On Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at 11:04 p.m., Fountain Valley Police Officers responded to a serious traffic collision on Warner Avenue, east of Brookhurst Street. Upon Officers’ arrival, a male pedestrian was found unresponsive on the ground in the westbound lanes of Warner Avenue. Two vehicles, a blue 2016 Acura RDX and a gray 2012 BMW X3, which were involved in the collision, stopped at the scene and were cooperative with investigators. A preliminary investigation has revealed multiple vehicles were in the area at the time of the collision and were possibly involved. Anyone who believes they were in the area at the time of the collision and feel they may be involved are encouraged to contact FVPD to provide further information.

The victim was transported to an area hospital and ultimately succumbed to his injuries. FVPD is working with the Orange County Coroner’s Office to confirm the identity of the victim with information received subsequent to the collision.

FVPD investigators are working to determine if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision. Any witnesses to the collision are encouraged to contact the FVPD Traffic Bureau at 714-593-4481. Incident #20-20045
