National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th. The COVID-19 pandemic – which is requiring great sacrifices of front-line healthcare workers, other essential personnel and the public – has come during the "International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife," as proclaimed by the World Health Organization in honor of the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. Nightingale is known as the founder of modern nursing. Her birthdate of May 12 marks the final day of National Nurses Week each year.
During these uncertain times we would like to extend our appreciation to all nurses. These front-line workers serve with compassion, dedication and commitment, often putting themselves at risk to ensure patients are cared for. If you see a nurse this week - say thank you (from six feet away) and show your appreciation for all that they do!
