[ARCHIVED] Press Release - Multiple Gunshots Heard

On October 18, 2019, at approximately 2:00 PM, Fountain Valley Police Officers inside Fountain Valley Regional Hospital at 17100 Euclid, heard three gun shots come from the area of the parking lot. A male subject with a gunshot wound to his hand was detained by Officers. Investigation revealed the male subject’s family friends drove him to the hospital to seek a psychiatric evaluation for suicidal thoughts. The male subject, identified as 58 year-old Haitham Amin of Huntington Beach, got out of the vehicle in the hospital parking lot, and shot himself with a handgun multiple times in the hand. The firearm was recovered by Officers. Amin was taken to a local trauma center for medical treatment and a psychiatric evaluation. There were no other injured persons or damage to property as a result of the discharged firearm.
