OC Animal Care Coyotes Awareness

The Orange County Animal Care (OCAC) are working to create infographics to educate and update communities in Orange County about coyotes, dog bites and community cat programs. These information can be found under Let's Paws campaign on OCAC social media and website.

Coyote Awareness for Pets

-Always keep small dogs & cats inside or in the close presence of an adult

-Always walk your pet on a leash

-Bring a walking stick or umbrella with you to defend against an approaching coyote

-Feed your pet indoors

-Eliminate potential food & water sources, such as fallen fruit & standing water, from your yard

-Store trash in covered heavy-duty containers

-Keep yards free from potential shelter, such as thick brush & weeds

-Enclose the bottoms of porches & decks where coyotes can often hide 

-Keep your pet's rabies vaccination up-to-date
