The inaugural event starts at 10 a.m. and will include the reading of an Arbor Day proclamation and the planting of four new trees in the park. Attendees will receive free saplings to plant in their yards and information on how to properly plant trees for years of enjoyment.
Rainbow Environmental Services has agreed to donate compost in appreciation of a successful green waste and holiday tree collection program. Bags and shovels will be available so residents can fill bags with compost to use in their yards.
Residents can also increase the curb appeal of their homes and beautify their neighborhoods with parkway trees. For $35, the city will purchase, deliver and plant a new parkway tree. Interested residents can stop by the event, visit City Hall or call (714) 593-4433 for more information.
