One of the City’s two storm water pump stations is receiving a major overhaul. The Sandalwood pump station located on Heil Avenue, between Bushard and Magnolia, has been taken out of service to install new engines, pumps and electrical control equipment. During this time, a minor expansion of the building to house the new equipment and some site work to improve conditions will also be completed. The pump station has been in operation since the 1960s and is in desperate need of renovation. Work is scheduled to be completed in October 2017 before next winter’s rainy season hits. Once complete, the reliability of this station will be greatly improved to provide continued flood relief capacity to the northwest portions of the City.
