Street light

Recently, the City of Fountain Valley acquired the streetlights from Southern California Edison (SCE) to convert the streetlights to LED lighting in order to reduce costs, and provide better lighting, to enhance safety on streets in the community.

There are both economic and safety benefits of LED street lighting. LEDs are much more energy efficient and have a longer life span than traditional lights. Higher quality of light increases safety and reduces crime. In addition to providing for safer streets, they have sturdier lenses, not glasses, making them much more resistant to breakage. It has been proven that cities that have converted to LED lighting have improved safety and have resulted in lower energy consumption and operating costs. These economic benefits translate into a lower carbon footprint, which help to address requirements for cities to be more eco-friendly.
