Crime Scene Investigation

The Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Technician responds to a wide range of crime scene types including; residential burglaries, robberies, assaults and homicides. At these scenes the CSI Technician photographs, collects and documents evidence such as physical items, weapons, latent fingerprints or DNA material. The CSI Technician examines the latent prints, uploading them into the Cal Id computer system for suspect identification.  The CSI Technician also ensures chain of custody of firearms and DNA swabs, which are processed by the Orange County Crime Lab.

The CSI Technician trains new police officers how to identify and lift latent fingerprints and collect possible DNA material for analysis.  Additionally the CSI Technician assists the Court Liaison by duplicating digital images, audio and video files for court.
