August 10, 2007 — This much anticipated project began late June 2007, with the installment of construction fencing to secure the site. At this point, the only areas of the park that will remain open will be the Rec Center building, the outdoor basketball courts, and the tennis courts. Parking for the tennis courts will remain open at the north entrance off of Brookhurst Street. However, access is challenging for the Rec Center building and the outdoor basketball courts, as there is no on-site parking available for these facilities. The main entrance at Heil will be completely closed to all traffic, and parking will be available along the curb on Brookhurst Street only.

It is expected that this condition will exist until March, 2008, at which point much of the existing acreage should be reasonably available for youth group events only until the estimated project completion in June, 2008.
