City Council Appointed Former Councilmember Larry Crandall to Fill City Council Vacant Seat

Former Councilmember Larry Crandall was appointed as City Councilmember at the February 6 City Council Meeting after Councilmember Mark McCurdy resigned from his seat on the City Council as of January 15. Larry Crandall was elected to City Council from 1998 to 2012. Larry was Mayor in 2001, 2005, and 2010.

Check Your Smoke Alarms

Test ALL of your smoke alarms once a month; smoke alarms can only save you if they are working. According to the NFPA:

  • Three of every five home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms (38%) or no working smoke alarms (21%). 
  • Smoke alarms provide an early warning of a fire, giving people additional escape time. In 2009-2013, smoke alarms sounded in more than half (53%) of the home1 fires reported to U.S. fire departments.
  • Dead batteries caused one-quarter (24%) of the smoke alarm failures.
