Lieut. Sweaza

Lieutenant Sweaza began his law enforcement career in 1990 as a Reserve Officer for Garden Grove Police Department. In 1991 he was hired by Costa Mesa Police Department as a Senior Reserve Officer.

In 1997 he was hired as a Fountain Valley Police Officer, working a variety of assignments, including Patrol, Field Training Officer, Sex Crimes Detective and Crisis Negotiator for West County SWAT. 

In 2006 he was promoted to Police Sergeant and was worked in Patrol and later in the Detective Bureau.

He promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2012 and was assigned to Uniformed Patrol.  As a Patrol Watch Commander he was responsible for Patrol Operations including Police Canines, Field Training Officer Program and the Traffic Bureau.

Currently Lieutenant Sweaza is assigned as the Detective Bureau Lieutenant and is responsible for General Investigations, Crime Suppression Unit, Personnel Investigations, Crime Scene Investigations, Property and Evidence, Crime Analysis and Holding Facility. 

Lieutenant Sweaza is currently completing his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice and is attending the Peace Officers Standards and Training Command College.
