On Saturday, January 30, the City held a Neighborhood Clean-Up Event in the area located east of Los Amigos High School, south of Heil Avenue. During the event, bulky waste and electronic waste (e-waste) pick-up service was offered to residents at no charge. Public Works Department staff and volunteers were also on hand to assist residents with transporting items into the large roll-off containers that were made available by Rainbow Environmental Services. By the end of the day, a total of 25 tons of waste was collected, all of which will be recycled or reused to the fullest extent practicable in support of the City's state mandated waste diversion goals. In addition to the neighborhood clean-up event, the City planted 30 new parkway trees at no charge for interested residents as part of the City's beautification and reforestation efforts.
Funding for the program was provided through the City’s Community Development Block Grant Program and by Rainbow Environmental Services.
